NioZero is one of the few Chilean active members of Sonic Retro. NioZero is a videogame programmer with the title of Ingeniero Civil Informático in Universidad de Concepción, Chile. Some know him for being a founder of a community called Taller de Videojuegos and for his studio FrostDisk, founded on 2010.

History

NioZero's real name is Gonzalo Hidalgo and he joined the Sonic Scene in August of 2008 when became member of Sonic Retro, but he has been a Sonic fan since 10 years or so when he played his first game, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 in a friend's Sega Genesis. He likes to develop games in general and his first Sonic game was Sonic Memorize for the Nintendo DS when he was learning to develop for the portable system. He started studing Ingeniería Civil Informática (Civil Engineering in Computer Science) in Universidad de Concepción (University of Concepción) in 2003 at graduated in 2010.

At present, NioZero is still an active member of Sonic Retro and participate both the forum and sometimes in the IRC. He still maintain his studio FrostDisk and develop independent games in his free-time.

Videogames Workshop

More well-known like Taller de Videojuegos, is a community dedicated to helping and supporting learning about game development at professional level. It's was founded in 2004 by a professor and NioZero was of the first students along with others. Initially started as an elective for students of the University of Concepción, but with the help of NioZero and other members, Taller de Videojuegos became a community open to anyone interested in learning to develop games or share knowledge about the area in 2005.
