- Back to: Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (prototype; 1993-11-03)/Comparisons.
Act 1
Sonic runs down the hill rather than use a snowboard.
Spinning will cause the player to fall through the floor at the parts where the snowboard changes direction in the final game. However, because the level wraps vertically, they'll land back on the slope.
The daytime palette is used in all outside sections, including the fight with Big Icedus.

Act 2
Accessing this Act from the level select will put the player on Knuckles' route.
The player will often get stuck when entering tunnels at high speeds.
There is no water in Act 2. The platforms that sink into the water function normally regardless.
Cold air blasters pointing upwards. The player will never see this in the final game, and perhaps for good reason - when frozen, Sonic and Tails will pass through the bridge to their deaths.
The springy platforms held up by chains have a different palette.
The bonus area before the boss has no left wall or a springy platform to lead up to it, nor does it have any Rings.
It doesn't snow when fighting the Freezer Mobile. It's also less aggressive, dispensing cold air at roughly half the rate of the final game.
The transition to Launch Base Zone doesn't work. Sonic and Tails can run through the snow tunnel, but they'll stop at the right hand side of the screen.
