- Back to: Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (8-bit) AutoDemo.
General comparisons
The Sega screen is different, using the standard Sega screen for many Game Gear titles, and plays no "SEGAAA" chant.
Following the Sega screen is the brief intro sequence, which only features Sonic running. No music plays here, and the sky colour is the same as in the Master System version.
The title screen only features Sonic, who has no animation (but rises from behind the ribbon).
Gameplay comparisons
Sonic's physics are completely different and almost broken. He gains speed instantly and has no momentum on slopes whatsoever. The player also has no air control when falling or launched by a spring.
If the player continually walks into a wall, they will slowly phase through it.
Sonic cannot be harmed by anything in the AutoDemo.
There are no death planes in bottomless pits yet. Falling into one causes the game to crash, displaying a myriad of corrupted graphics depending on the level and emulator.
There is no Time Over in this prototype. Once the timer passes 9:59 it loops back to 0:00.
Graphics comparisons
Sonic's idle animation is the same one from the Master System version of Sonic the Hedgehog.
