Min Ho Kim, also known by the alias Deegeemin, is a Korean-American digital artist and illustrator[2] and one of IDW Publishing's 2D comic artists on Sonic the Hedgehog. First hired in a contract role by IDW in April 2022 and later by Sega of America the following October, Kim is responsible for illustrating, inking, and coloring a number of areas in the comics, chief among them characters and cover artwork. He remains working with IDW as a general 2D artist, utilizing programs like Clip Studio Paint and Adobe Photoshop and even occasionally playing the design role.[3]

Career

Min Ho Kim began his contract work in the entertainment industry in January 2021, when he was first employed as a merchandise and concept artist for Newgrounds.com, Inc., designing packaging art and stickers for the Friday Night Funkin' franchise. The following April, he would officially be hired by IDW Publishing, working on interiors and cover artwork for series like Sonic the Hedgehog. Notably, Kim is responsible for all aspects of his art production, including pencils, inks, and colors. At the same time, Kim also took on an additional contract role as the artist of indie developer Fepard Games, producing promotional artwork for the Sonic-inspired Spark the Electric Jester 3,[4] as well as creating the game's Steam cover art.[3]

In October 2002, Kim was also officially hired as a contract artist for Sega of America. Employed as the company's lead character artist, he worked on a variety of cover art, character-related artwork, concept art, and more - even acting as chief character artist on 2023's The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog.[4] He remained in this role until March 2023, where he would take a brief lapse in his work with the company. The following September, he resumed his contract work with Sega, now employed as a general 2D artist creating artwork for the company's Social Team.[4] During this time, his artistic roles entailed coloring and full illustration duties.[3]
