The Sonic 3 official art shows Sonic with three unfolded fingers in one hand, and 1 unfolded finger in the other signifying that it was Sonic 3, part 1. The text on the bottom (Part One) clearly indicated this also. This image could also be found in Sonic & Knuckles Collection, Sonic Jam, and Sonic Gems Collection. When this image was used for the official cartridge art for the European version the text was removed.
