It was first used in Sonic Heroes and later the 2006 Sonic the Hedgehog game.

Overview

The Dummy Ring Bomb involves the user throwing fake Rings out in front of them. When they make contact with an enemy, these Rings will explode, causing harmful effects such as damage to the enemy.

Game appearances

Sonic Heroes

In Sonic Heroes, if Tails and Rouge are by themselves, they perform this Solo Attack by pressing B (GC)/Square (PS2)/X (Xbox) while on the ground. They throw out three fake Rings that will explode in a burst of electricity and paralyze the enemy if touched. They cannot paralyze the user or his/her teammates. Dummy Ring Bombs can be quite effective if they are thrown all over the place.

Sonic the Hedgehog (2006)

Tails kept the move in the 2006 Sonic the Hedgehog game where it was joined by the Dummy Ring Snipe and Dummy Ring Blitz, and is performed by pressing X/Square while on the ground. Compared to the move's previous appearance, the Dummy Rings are now contained inside Item Boxes that Tails throws at enemies. Upon contact, the Item Boxes will explode, scattering Dummy Rings around that will damage all nearby enemies.

Rouge does not use the move in this game, but can instead use Bombs, which are similar in function.
