Yellow Desert Zone is the second Zone of Sonic Blast. As with other Zones in this game, Yellow Desert consists of two standard Acts followed by a shorter third Act which contains the Zone's boss.

Overview

True to its name, Yellow Desert takes place outside in the dry desert for its first Act, sporting a background that looks very similar to the background in Sonic the Hedgehog 3's Desert Palace Zone. The second Act takes place inside the Egyptian-style caverns of the Zone, much like Sonic & Knuckles' Sandopolis Zone but without the darkness. Instead, the ceiling is lined with rows of spikes that make traversing the higher paths difficult, especially for Sonic due to his Double Jump.

Just before the Bonus Panel in the second Act is a maze where the player jumps into a hole in the wall and is transported through a series of holes to another one somewhere in the maze. This maze also holds a Giant Ring, which is important if the player is going after the Chaos Emeralds for the good ending.

Quotes

Bats, moving spike traps, quicksand... this Zone is all dune and no beach! When travelling in the Egyptian caverns, it's heads up - those stalactites have a nasty habit of falling down at just the wrong time.
