Issues and questions
Hey, BSonirachi. You know how to fix this? [1](*) Also, can you please check this out: my item pages appear in the items category when I'm logged be I cannot see it in the public page, and I confirmed that when I go there logged out it is in fact not there. --SonicUnleashedPS2 (talk) 06:09, 26 January 2024 (EST) ---> Category:Items - you can confirm it still does not appear
(*)It was on the Gaia Gate's page all along! --SonicUnleashedPS2 (talk) 17:57, 31 January 2024 (EST)
- First issue has been sorted. As for the second issue, the cache takes a long time to update for users who are not logged in. It's a known issue. --BSonirachi (talk) 17:58, 31 January 2024 (EST)
- The problem is that the page was already created a week ago. It just feels odd given how fast all the other pages updated, even the files pages where I was having issues initially (you may remember). --SonicUnleashedPS2 (talk) 18:00, 31 January 2024 (EST)
- I'm happy to tell the item finally appears in the public page of the Items Template! Took some weeks but at least got there. --SonicUnleashedPS2 (talk) 22:57, 13 February 2024 (EST)
Where can I see all media when I don't know exactly what to search (a page just with everything, where I can see stuff organized in tree/by categories, or even not organized if needed, but the generic page, not just subsections that don't show their path up) —Preceding unsigned comment added by SonicUnleashedPS2 (talk • contribs) 19:37, 31 January 2024 (EST)
- Is this what you mean? Special:ListFiles
- For files that aren't used on any pages, there's Special:UnusedFiles. --BSonirachi (talk) 19:45, 31 January 2024 (EST)
Why is the Hidden Treasure Ring page I've created LITERALLY CENSORED on Google. I'm not saying it was you, but this is UNBELIEVABLE. WTF, it was appearing as the top site for weeks now and it somewhere in time disappeared completely from the pages and images results!!! If I didn't use the page as a shortcut to Sonic Retro I would have not found this unforgivable thing. --SonicUnleashedPS2 (talk) 21:26, 13 February 2024 (EST)
- The short answer is that Google's search algorithm is just a mess.
- Also please order your comments in a consistent manner. Your last comment was placed underneath a completely unrelated comment and that makes no sense at all, so I had to move it. --BSonirachi (talk) 23:12, 13 February 2024 (EST)
- It was actually behind the right comments, refering to the previous issue of the Items Template --SonicUnleashedPS2 (talk) 23:17, 13 February 2024 (EST)
- Maybe it's worth to mention that I confirmed the other pages I created still appear as usual, also on the images results (well, at least for my devices, I hope this is not that famous - or rather infamous - shadowbanning that I know some companies like to use in the shadows, although if it's just Google censorship it is not really better, I'd rather this be a Sonic Retro issue to be easier to solve and less unfortunate). I have screenshots to prove how the page and images did appear before but I think no one wants me to upload such useless files, I just wanted to leave the reference. --SonicUnleashedPS2 (talk) 23:17, 13 February 2024 (EST)
- Oh, right, I got a little confused. That's what being a night owl does to you, sorry about that.

- The issue with Google is that most of its search results favour Fandom wikis more than other wikis. They'll also suppress other wikis from search results if they detect "duplicate content", which is a big reason why copying writing word-for-word between wikis is highly discouraged (plus it's plagiarism). And yeah, screenshots of how you think pages should look are outside our scope and shouldn't be uploaded here. We're not a file hosting service. --BSonirachi (talk) 23:29, 13 February 2024 (EST)
- Well, thanks for telling me this is not a file hosting service, I sware I didn't know (forgive my irony). I know about the Fandom favouring thing (and it's nonsensical to me), but that plagiarism thing wouldn't even make sense, you know first hand my content is 100% original and that you can't find anything nearly as detailed or even existent in the web about most of the pages I've been creating, like the Secret Missions page and specially the Hidden Treasure Ring, which is actually my main personal achievement because the only thing about it on the hole internet was a low resolution art in a "Miscellaneous" section in the Fandom (and it was my first page on this community!), and you know how my main mission is to help expanding web knowledge on the overly unexplored PS2 version of Sonic Unleashed. One of the artworks of the Hidden Treasure Ring was even my own edit, and I didn't even bother to lend it free so much uncredited. I'm here to create content, but I'm sad that the content of my work was just erased ftom the people's search engines, that's all. I hope you understand what I mean, I'm also being a night owl at the moment so I should probably go to sleep. --SonicUnleashedPS2 (talk) 23:52, 13 February 2024 (EST)
How do I write [This], but This is also a internal link (so I want to use the sybols [ ] besides the link)? --SonicUnleashedPS2 (talk) 03:11, 15 February 2024 (EST)
- Use the "nowiki" tags. For example, <nowiki>[</nowiki>. --BSonirachi (talk) 11:41, 15 February 2024 (EST)
New spamming/trolling/phishing users
Highly suspicious users User:NancyRoan7678 and User:MadieDelgado22 just created pages with descriptions that make absolutely no sense («Darlena is the place where I'm called although it's not the most feminine of names.» «The favorite hobby for my children and me is in order to cook and Let me never stop doing it's.» ???) and it seems like they just created the users to spread possibly harmful external links. --SonicUnleashedPS2 (talk) 21:01, 17 February 2024 (EST)
- Another one: User:AnnieSawers4393, it's clearly a spamming/trolling/phishing scheme. (EDIT: Another brand new one: User:SamaraNewbold9) --SonicUnleashedPS2 (talk) 21:11, 17 February 2024 (EST)
- BSonirachi, this is getting ill. More users were creating overnight! User:FrancineBaumgard User:ScarlettColmener User:ReyesWitherspoon User:VickiThompkins6. All the same, somebody must stop this before they do something worse or keep creating users. --SonicUnleashedPS2 (talk) 04:20, 18 February 2024 (EST)
- They're all spambots, which have been a reoccurring problem for years, and this is the first time in a while that they've been especially aggressive. All of the ones you've brought up have been blocked, but more will keep on coming no matter what, so it's best to let us handle them ourselves. --BSonirachi (talk) 13:05, 18 February 2024 (EST)
- Oh, I understand, next time I don't have to warn you here then. These guys are everywhere nowadays! But yes, it seems like a problem you can't easily prevent without placing a lot of restrictions to every other user or to new users, which some websites do and it's frustrating, that sometimes doesn't seem to compensate. I hope there weren't too many problems of people deleting/vandalizing pages, though. At least the spambots are relatively harmless. --SonicUnleashedPS2 (talk) 14:27, 18 February 2024 (EST)

"Dark Gaia Force" or "Red Orbs"?
Hi BSonirachi. I've been working arround on the wiki and planning my next page, but I'm undecided on the name because it changes somethings. Dark Gaia Force and Red Orbs. I believe they probably don't justify two different pages, but there should certainly be a page about this. Should I call it Dark Gaia Force and I'm talking about the energy itself converted from the Red Orbs, used to unlock new moves and upgrade the Werehog, should I call it Red Orb/Red Orbs, I'm talking about what you get in the levels, the item boxes, beating enemies, breaking jars, etc, a more item-wise perspective. Obviously I still mention both, but what should the page be "in the front page". The relevance of this? It changes the focus point, what I mention first, likely categories and how it fits into the wiki. I don't know how much do you know about the game I'm mostly working on, but I wanted to hear your suggestion on this. --SonicUnleashedPS2 (talk) 07:15, 21 February 2024 (EST)
- It's been years since I last did a playthrough of the Wii/PS2 version, and after having a read through the manuals the Wii/PS2 version uses three types of "Orbs" besides the red ones, which include green and blue ones that fill the Life and Unleashed gauges respectively, though as you did mention the Orb Result screen calls the red orbs "Dark Gaia Force". And then you have the 360/PS3 version which also has Dark Gaia Force which solely fuels the Unleashed gauge. So, to cover both the Wii/PS2 and 360/PS3 versions, settle for "Dark Gaia Force". --BSonirachi (talk) 10:43, 21 February 2024 (EST)
- I was actually thinking about placing the Blue Orbs in the Unleashed Mode page, that's why I didn't ask you about those. Also, they shouldn't be considered Dark Gaia Force (at least certainly in the PS2/Wii versions) as only Red Orbs convert into DGF in the Orb Result (1 Red Orb => 20 DFG). The same applies for Green Orbs, although I wasn't thinking about making a Green Orb's page at this moment. --SonicUnleashedPS2 (talk) 10:55, 21 February 2024 (EST)
- The article is completed! I'm very satistied with my work, hope this wiki gets well served from it! Also, I had already to use the Template:Delete because when uploading some images I somehow left a duplicated ".png" on them, and also I already corrected things but I created an accidental "80px" page. Sorry for giving you extra work deleting stuff. --SonicUnleashedPS2 (talk) 15:00, 22 February 2024 (EST)

Add sprite files to gallery
Hi. How do I add sprites to this page's gallery? I cant use the files themselves, because this
<gallery>File:SonicR PC Sprite Items.png|crop_width=64|crop_x=64|5 Rings [[Item Panel]] from ''[[Sonic R]]''</gallery> |
makes this
5 Rings Item Panel from Sonic R

- Sprite images like that one are designed for use with Template:SpriteImage and thus don't lend themselves well to gallery tags. They will need to be formatted to use the template. --BSonirachi (talk) 14:17, 21 March 2024 (EDT)
- So how do I format them to use the template?--SonicUnleashedPS2 (talk) 17:10, 21 March 2024 (EDT)
- Looking at things I think a new template might be needed. You may be better asking Black Squirrel about this, as he might be able to make a gallery template for sprites. --BSonirachi (talk) 14:53, 22 March 2024 (EDT)

Sonic Colours (Nintendo DS) Item Boxes
It appears I cannot find any informatiom about the items that you removed from the Item Box (lists) article, I don't know where Sonic Fandom got their information from, but I can't prove them right about this one. I presume either someone(s) created fake sprites and decided to spread fake information in multiple pages of Sonic Fandom, or the sprites are indeed real but are cut or unused content from the game (as finding out info about this game is considerably harder then about the home console counterparts), and someone who was writing their articles got confused and thought they were items part of the normal gameplay. I'd like to believe the latter is the true, but unfortunately I have no way of finding out. Regardless of that, if the item sprites are in fact present in the game's files as unused content, they should be added to the page in the same way as these Item Box/List of Item Boxes (1991-2006)#Sonic_the_Hedgehog_(16-bit). --SonicUnleashedPS2 (talk) 07:23, 20 October 2024 (EDT)
- Maybe you can help verifying this User_talk:SonicUnleashedPS2#Topic_research or know someone who can. —SonicUnleashedPS2 (talk) 07:58, 1 November 2024 (EDT)
- I still wouldn't trust sprite rips unless the rippers confirm they have have actual tools to extract data from the game. If anything, you're better asking someone who can datamine the ROM. Try asking in the forums or in our Discord server. --BSonirachi (talk) 12:48, 1 November 2024 (EDT)
Ignored Apology or Help Messages
I tried to contact you to apologize for mistakes made on my part (Hola0204060) and I'm not going to do a fight about it, but if Really need I need to stop this errors, almost read my Messages or Help me about that, and now, if you don't read this or you don't You reply about some tutorials to be better at stopping Causing you troubles, I don't think we're going anywhere. Now, if you want me to learn and stop causing you trouble, tell me tips on how to use Sonic Retro. Read this please and answer me about that text. --Hola0204060 (talk) 2:45, 13 November 2024 (EDT)
- First things first, thank you for responding, and I'm sorry if I had come off as aggressive as admittedly I'm not very good when it comes to patience. If you have tried to contact me through "email user" I would not recommend doing that as I never check those emails and they just go missing in the sea of emails I receive. I find it a lot easier to be contacted via talk pages instead as those are far more direect. I would recommend talk pages from now on.
- Given English isn't your first language, my suggestion would be to read the help pages on the Retro CDN here, and use a machine translator like DeepL to translate the pages into your languages. It won't be perfect considering it's a machine translation, but it might help you understand some things in your language a little. Again, I'm sorry for misjudging you. --BSonirachi (talk) 18:11, 13 November 2024 (EST)
Linking to categories
How to link to a category without categorizing the current page in said category (and without having to utilize an external link)? --SonicUnleashedPS2 (talk) 08:04, 17 November 2024 (EST)
- Type [[:Category:Category name]]. The colon before the namespace tells the software to make a link to the category without adding the page to that category. --BSonirachi (talk) 12:45, 17 November 2024 (EST)
- Ok, thanks. --SonicUnleashedPS2 (talk) 14:53, 17 November 2024 (EST)
