Rediscovery

PsychoSk8r first discovered Sonic CulT back in December 2002, while looking for Sonic Roms shortly after rediscovering his love for Sonic The Hedgehog. Shortly after discovering the site, he found a link to the forums, and registered on the 3rd January 2003.

He was amazed with the information found in there, and continued to visit a few times a day. He started off just as you'd expect an idiot to start. (PsyNote: Very True) He then read the rules, and abided by them, slowly learning the ways of the Sonic Community.

Sadly, 18 months from joining, his internet connection was then cut, meaning he had no way of accessing his Addict-Like hobbie.

Reconnection

PsychoSk8r accessed Sonic CulT about once every 1-2 months, through public internet connections. Late in 2005, he was thrown out of his home for looking 'Different' (gothic), because it was too rebellious for his mother's religious beleifs. He jumped from house to house every night, thanks to the help of some close friends. He never spent one night on the streets. Toward August/September 2007, he moved into his current house, with his Dad, and soon enough, was Reconnected to the internet.

The very first thing he done was visit Sonic CulTs forums. Well, by then, the Selling of Sonic CulT that Pachuka talked about in 2004, had happened. Under the new management of Sazpaimon, the website was still just as much community based as before the Disconnection. PsychoSk8r felt at home.

The Sonic Hacking scene

PsychoSk8r had discovered many insignificant sonic hacks, and websites before the reconnection which give him none of the information he needed. So after a very breif time digging, he found the Sonic Game Modification Community. This site helped him with everything he needed to know to get a hack off the ground. After a month or so hacking, he decided to start his own hacking community, not as competition for the SGMC, but as a friend.

The Rise and Fall of RetroHack

PsychoSk8r got lucky, and signed a contract with an old accomplice for Web Hosting, and got it at a cheap rate (£15 per month) for 1tb space and bandwidth. This helped his plans for a hacking website. The name RetroHack was thought of off the top of PsychoSk8r's head, he didn't want Sonic in the title, as he wanted it not just to be a sonic-based hacking community, but to be open to other hacks too. RetroHack started as a PHPBB based forum, and attracted a few members. After a fortnight of being up, due to the software, the board was spammed. This led to the decision of Switching to IPB. Once RetroHack was switched to IPB, it gained a better look and feel, and opened up more forums for members to talk about things other than hacking. After a good 5 months, the server failed.

The Ressurection

After 9 days of downtime, PsychoSk8r had got together with the host, to talk about what could be done. After the discussion, plans of moving to a new server were put into immediate action. After a few days, the hosting was back.

PsychoSk8r wasn't too pleased with the idea of a complete restart, so after hunting through 500gb of data, he found minor pieces of the old RetroHack, and decided to completely restart, only bringing back certain things from the old RetroHack.

RetroHack reopened on the 12th February 2008, at 5:30pm GMT, supporting a new, sleek design, with subtle references to the old RetroHack theme. Shortly after reopening, a favorite skin among members, "SGMC-like" had returned, with the approval of OrdosAlpha.

The Website side of RetroHack is currently being worked on.
