Uber Caterkiller is the eighth mini-boss encountered in Sonic Mania when playing as Sonic, Tails, or Sonic and Tails together. It is encountered at the end of Mirage Saloon Zone Act 1, and first appears as an ordinary Rattlekiller before being transformed into gigantic form by the Heavy Magician.
Defeat Strategy
This mini-boss burrows through the sand in the background to jump out like a Sandworm and attack from either the back, the front or the sides of the screen. Its head is only vulnerable when it is directly above the Tornado, so be prepared to strike it.
Since Knuckles has a unique alternative Act 1 for this stage, the player does not face this boss when playing as Knuckles, instead facing off against the Dangerous Ball Tower.
