Gigalopolis Zone

Turquoise Hill Zone is the first Zone of Sonic Chaos for the Sega Game Gear / Sega Master System, preceding Gigalopolis Zone. As with other stages in this game, Turquoise Hill consists of two standard Acts followed by a shorter, third Act which contains the Zone's boss. Geographically, this Zone is situated on South Island (as is the rest of Sonic Chaos).

Overview

Very much in the style of Green Hill Zone as a tropical-paradise-themed opening level, Turquoise Hill is filled with grassy plains, palm trees, checkered soil, and loop-de-loops (as well as the corkscrews from Emerald Hill Zone). Indeed, given that the game takes place on South Island, Turquoise Hill is likely Green Hill's next-door-neighbour. What distinguishes Turquoise Hill from its greener counterpart is the profusion of springs all over the place: on rocks, hidden underground... and even on the back of Badniks, which makes the Boing-o-Bot bug robots impossible to smash from above. A Spin Dash will do the trick, though.

Quotes

Speed through oceanside loops and tricky platforms loaded with Rings. Bounce off the Boing-o-Bots' springy noggins for high-flying Ring grabs. Look out for spike traps and the Lady Bug Boss!

— US Game Gear version manualMedia:SonicChaos GG US manual.pdf[4]

Race through loops, corkscrew twists and hidden passageways. Ride moving platforms over pits filled with spikes. Spring high in the air over traps and terrain Grab those Rings and Items, and keep on the lookout for Robotnik's badniks!

— EU Master System version manualMedia:Sonic Chaos SMS EU Manual.pdf[2]

Turquoise Hill is where the blue skies and green meadows go on endlessly. Firstly, this locality of South Island is for warming-up! Collect lots of rings quickly and pound the enemies!

— JP Game Gear version manual (translation by greenyvertekins)Media:Sonic Chaos Game Gear JP Manual.pdf[1]
