Terminal Velocity is the seventh and final Area in the Nintendo DS version of Sonic Colours. Unlike the other Areas in the game, Terminal Velocity only features one Act, which immediately leads to a boss fight upon its completion. It becomes available to play after all the other six Areas have been cleared.

Story

As all the generators are destroyed, Sonic, Tails, and the Wisps start celebrating at Tropical Resort. However, this is short lived, as Dr. Eggman prepares to fire his mind control cannon at Sonic's world, but because Globotron's arm is stuck in one of Tropical Resort's 8 Hyper-go-on towers, the resort itself begins to fall apart. Sonic and Tails realize it's time to escape, with Tails getting a head start. Eggman brings out his final machine, the Nega-Wisp Armor, to chase Sonic, and thus the final level begins.

Overview

Just like its counterpart in the Wii version and Sonic Colours: Ultimate, the only Act in this Area sees Sonic running down the tall structure away from the collapsing Amazing Interstellar Amusement Park. Unlike its counterpart however, Sonic is continually chased by the Nega-Wisp Armor on the way down, and the Act is played from a top-down perspective. To escape the machine, the player needs to collect White Wisps to gather energy and Boost away as well as use the Dash Panels. If the player moves too slowly, the Nega-Wisp Armor will catch up and attack Sonic, taking away Rings or a life.

The Nega-Wisp Armor isn't the only obstacle, as colliding into walls will also take away Rings, so the player must maneuver Sonic well with Left and Right and taking care not to Boost recklessly. After running for long enough, the screen will fade to white, and transition the player to the boss fight proper...
