Studiopolis is the first revealed level in Sonic Mania that is also completely original, making Studiopolis the flagship level of Sonic Mania. Studiopolis is a theater/cinema themed level.

References

Studiopolis is chock-full of Sonic and Sega references. First of all, there is a reference to a Streets of Rage first level prop ,the Pine Pot, changed to the Pink Bot in Mania. There is also a subtle reference to Daytona USA in the form of a van with the Hornet race-car logo on it. There are odd lamps in Studiopolis Zone that are in fact a reference to scrapped UFO's that were supposed to be in the original Marble Zone which were reimplemented in the debug mode of the 2013 remake of Sonic 1. The infamous letterings "Cope" and "CPU" appear once again as graffiti on train cars, which is obviously a reference to the same letterings in Spring Yard Zone. There is also a billboard stating "Club Spin: AGES", in where Club Spin is a reference to Club Sega and AGES is SEGA backwards. In the level there is an obsticalized version of the SegaSonic Popcorn Shop. There is also a Game Gear logo on a monitor that Sonic jumps out of. Coincidentally, Studiopolis is a reference to the name to the recording studio of Sonic Boom.
