SpinyMedia:Sonic2 MD US SonicJam manual.pdf[1], called Lander (ランダー) in the Japanese manualMedia:Sonic2 MD JP SonicJam manual.pdf[2], is a Badnik from the 16-bit version of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 found in Chemical Plant Zone.

Overview

Spinies move back and forth slowly on the floor or walls, but can suddenly shoot a projectile out of their upper spikes, so the player must still be aware when they approach one.

Spiny has made a number of reappearances in later games, starting with Sonic Pocket Adventure's Secret Plant Zone, and later in Sonic Colours' Starlight Carnival and Asteroid Coaster, however in this game they cannot be destroyed with a Homing Attack, but can still be jumped on. They reappear in Sonic Generations' Chemical Plant visually similar to Sonic Colours, and once more in Sonic Mania's Chemical Plant Zone.
