Spelunk the Mole is a mole which lives in Marble Zone. He is not initially trusting of anyone and regards the treasure buried in his cave as his only friends.
In Subterranean Sonic he is found by Sonic who finds an entrance to his underground cavern system. He does not trust Sonic and tries to capture him, fearing he will reveal the location of the treasure inside his lair. After Sonic escapes and rescues him from a falling boulder he befreinds them and helps them to leave the cave.
