- Back to: Sonic the Hedgehog CD (Mega-CD prototype; 1993-06-21).
General comparisons
The title screen in this prototype has been updated to match that of the final game, except the copyright text on the bottom uses a slightly less thick font. The music that plays for the title screen is the same one used in the 510 and v0.28A prototypes.
Menu navigation is inverted compared to the final, and while "New Game", "Continue" and "Time Attack" are functional and selectable, there is no "RAM Data" screen yet.
The level select is identical to the 510 and v0.28A prototypes.

This prototype still uses the different title screen/Time Attack music from the 510 and v0.28A prototypes.

Likewise, the Power Sneakers music is still the earlier version.
At this stage in development, the Past PCM tracks (with the exception of Quartz Quadrant) have been implemented, though a few of them have some noticeable differences. The timings for Palmtree Panic's Past track are off here.
Collision Chaos' Past track plays at a slightly faster tempo and has a slightly different instrumentation, with some instruments having different volume levels.

The sound for defeating Badniks is the same one from v0.28A and earlier.

Sonic says "Yeah!" when he gets a 1-Up instead of "Yes!". The "Yeah!" sound effect would end up unused in the final game.
The time warp sound has been changed from the harsher sound effect heard in earlier prototypes to a CD audio track that would later become unused in the final release. Curiously, it is track #33 in this prototype whereas it is track #2 in the final.
