Sonic the Hedgehog Boom is the first full-length soundtrack release connected to the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. Created as a promotional tool, the album features a selection of tracks from both the North America Special Edition version of Sonic the Hedgehog CD and the Sega Mega Drive version of Sonic the Hedgehog Spinball. Instead of being straight rips from the game, all of the songs are extended mixes, with the four Spinball tracks also being sequenced outside of the Mega Drive hardware.
