Sonic 2 CD (alternatively named Super Sonic) is a unreleased game for the Sega CD. Originally it was planned to be released simultaneously with the Genesis and the 8-bit ports but instead it was cancelled all together. Unlike Sonic CD, which was a whole new game rather than a port of the original Sonic the Hedgehog, this game was to be an enhanced port of the genesis version of Sonic the Hedgehog 2. The game was to have CD quality music and additional levels that the Mega Drive counterpart did not. Here are a few of the fantastic intermissions for the Sonic 2 CD that Sega showed at the Summer CES in Chicago. The Sega CD version is said to be almost identical to the cart, but features CD quality music tracks, sound effects, and excellent cartoon like intermissions. These screens are from a demo and may not appear in the final Sega CD version of Sonic 2. |
