Sonic 2 CD is a unreleased game for the Sega CD. Originally it was planned to be released simultaneously with the Genesis and the 8-bit ports but instead it was cancelled all together. Unlike Sonic CD, which was a whole new game rather than a port of the original Sonic the Hedgehog, this game was to be an enhanced port of the genesis version of Sonic the Hedgehog 2. The game was to have CD quality music and also cartoon like cutscenes that display during the load screens.

Here are a few of the fantastic intermissions for the Sonic 2 CD that Sega showed at the Summer CES in Chicago.
