Stories

Chao Races and Badnik Bases, Part 1

After the last battle against Dr. Eggman, Omega's body was destroyed. Tails wants to fix Omega, but he does not have the parts or a cipher needed to fix an E-100 Series robot. Parts for E-100s are rare to find these days, and Tails needs access to the EggNet. Sonic suggests checking the old Eggman base in Windmill Village, while Rouge plans on going to White Park Zone to look for the E-100 parts. There is a man in White Park named Clutch the Opossum, who's claim to fame is his collection of technology and riches. He is there as part of the Chao Racing Circuit and is the reigning champion. After this discussion, Amy Rose calls Vanilla and Cream about joining up with them to White Park. Vanilla decides to let her go, as long as she brings Gemerl with her there.

Sonic and Tails arrive at the Eggman base in the Tornado. Inside they joke about running into ghost Badniks while a shadowy figure lurks around them. They find a computer terminal that will let Tails into the EggNet, along with the creepy dolls of themselves from Final Egg. At White Park, Amy, Rouge, Cream, Cheese and Gemerl arrive at the Grand Chateau in Amy's Pink Cabriolet. On their way there, they pass by Shadow the Hedgehog, who doesn't care about fixing Omega right now. Upon entering the Chateau, they are greeted by Omochao, who is the emcee for the Grand Prix. Rouge (under the alias of Ms. Facet) tries to enter Cream and Cheese into the race, but they are told kids aren't allowed, so Rouge enters herself and Cheese instead. As the race is about to begin, they see Clutch is there, and he looks a lot hairier than Rouge imagined.

Soon enough, the race begins. Cheese does pretty well for the most part, but is kicked in the back by Clutch's Dark Chao. Cheese manages to pull through and get into the qualifying bracket, officially getting them into the grand prix. After the race, Clutch meets up with the group to invite Ms. Facet to his apartment as he was charmed by her Chao. Rouge proceeds to head to Clutch's penthouse while the others book a room at the chateau. Once Rouge gets there she finds a huge mess of broken robots. Once Clutch sees her he tells her his true motive for this meeting. He wants to make a trade to get Cheese, as he saw that Cheese had some exceptional skills in the Chao Race. Omega talks with Rouge about it, and she tells him that she isn't going to trade Cheese and she gives Omega a job. She also finds someone in a large fur coat that has been tailing them around, and she recognizes who he is.

Outside, Shadow starts doubting the rumors he heard about a bot-trader here. He starts considering helping Amy and Rouge, but he soon encounters the fur coat man. This man somehow has the abilities of the flight, power and speed cores Dr. Eggman used to use. With them, the fur coat man beats Shadow in a short fight.
