Some of Sonic's worst enemies are back and badder than ever! Dr. Starline, Dr. Eggman's former-right hand, has brought together Mimic, Rough, Tumble, and Zavok and promised them even more incredible power... if they can stop fighting each other and start fighting badniks to get to it![1]

Stories

Smash & Grab

With Zavok, Mimic, Rough and Tumble working for him, Starline starts the next step in his plan. His target is now set on collecting the Power Cores from Sonic Heroes. He explains to the rest of the team that the Power Cores are concentrated energy used by a variety of machines in the Eggman Empire. Using them amplifies the user's physical abilities. When asked how to harness their power, Starline lies and says they need special adaptors he will build later. Phase 2 of the plan has them infiltrating one of the very few EggNet hubs. It routes all data flow within Dr. Eggman's network. Once they take it, they will command all info in Eggman's databases. However, they cannot get that far without the Power Cores. The five of them begin their attack to retrieve the Power Cores. Mimic, Rough and Tumble take out the Badniks while Zavok opens the gate with his electromagnetic manipulation.

While on the job, Starline and Zavok have a talk. Zavok tells him he will never understand his and Eggman's over-reliance on machines. Starline tells him machines are efficient, tireless, and unquestionably loyal. Zavok points out the flaws in machines though and strong warriors will do everything a robot can and more. Starline tries to defend robots, while Zavok sees right through him. He tells him Eggman will never take him back. Starline tries to tell him this is about revenge, but Zavok gets to his point that Starline doesn't need Eggman. He tells Starline he has potential, he should not limit himself by trying to become Eggman. He should surpass him. They get back to the job at hand. Starline tells Mimic to turn into Sonic for the security camera. Then a robot dinosaur appears that surprises them. Zavok tries to control it but it's em-shielded. Rough and Tumble manage to take it down though with their team work. Starline then instructs them to load as many crates of Power Cores onto his truck while he deletes video footage. Zavok picks up a core though and realizes he doesn't need any special device to use them. Later he and Tumble punch the gate to make it look like Sonic used a Spin Dash on it. The next day Eggman inspects the damage left behind by the Deadly Four. He sees the missing databases and incomplete footage then questions it. Orbot tries to answer the questions but Eggman knows this can't be Sonic. He promises when he finds out what's going on and who's up to it, they are going to pay dearly.

Dr. Starline ponders what Zavok told him earlier while constructing his new device. He realizes no robot he's built can do what Rough and Tumble did. He then turns his attention to the present as he polishes the Tricore. With it, Starline can use all the abilities the different Power Core types give to their users. He now believes he can contend with the heroes of the world.
