Sonic for MegaCD is a conversion of the original Sonic 1 and Sonic 2 for the Mega-CD by Stealth. Only one zone of each game is available for play in the most recent release--Green Hill Zone, from Sonic 1, and Emerald Hill Zone, from Sonic 2.

The game starts off in a "Warp Zone," with the ability to choose Sonic, Tails, or Knuckles as a playable character. In addition, the player has the option to choose the type of color scheme they want for the latter two characters--"friendly," which uses existing entries in the original player palette line to represent the original colors of the characters as best as possible, and "aggressive," which uses the original colors for each character's sprites. From there, you can chose to play either Sonic 1 or Sonic 2, each represented by a different branching path on the map.

There are a few test zones as well that are playable, including a completely custom two-player stage for Sonic 2, which is a stripped-down version of Shining Island Zone from one of Stealth's other projects, Project Mettrix. It also features CD audio, which uses the full quality music of the aforementioned Sonic: Project Mettrix zone.
