Sonic Mania Plus is an upgraded re-release of Sonic Mania that has been announced to be released in Summer 2018. In addition to being released as an update to digital copies of the original game, this definitive version will receive a physical release which includes a holographic slip cover, a reversible Sega Mega Drive-themed sleeve, and a 32-page art book.

Changes from Sonic Mania

So far, the following changes have been announced:

  • Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Flying Squirrel will return as playable characters for the first time in over 20 years.
  • The Competition Mode will be expanded to allow up to 4 players.
  • An all-new "Encore Mode" will be added to the game, which will remix the zones with visual changes.
  • A save and payback function of speedrun attempts.
  • Optimized difficulty for boss fights.
