Sonic Demo is a demo for an unreleased Sonic the Hedgehog game that was created by UK developer Nitrome for mobile devices. Specifically what platforms it would have been released for was never decided, though is presumed to have included iOS and Android devices^[1]. While unreleased, parts of the game seem to have things in common with their released game called Super Leap Day.

The demo was revealed on Nitrome's Twitter page on December 22, 2021^[2]^[3].

Gameplay

The objective of the game would have been to traverse vertically-designed levels by jumping higher up the screen and break open the Capsule at the top. The intention was to release one new short level a day featuring old and new level themes^[4], featuring classic Badniks such as Crabmeats and Buzz Bombers, and collectable Rings scattered throughout the levels. Daily Chaos Emeralds would have been collectable, with a Super Sonic playthrough available at the end of a week^[5].

Gameplay was likely to be one-button gameplay with the movement being automatic. The only button available would be a jump button. Two moves are also available; a mid-air jump and a Wall Jump to hold onto walls a short time. Besides Sonic, other characters would have been unlockable with their own special abilities, such as Tails and Knuckles^[6].
