Sonic Adventure - NPC Script (Knuckles)

From Sonic Retro

[Upon first control]
Station Square, Day
Station Area

[the train station is locked during this time]

Spiffy, in front of the station:

What's going on? The
train station's closed?

This station is pretty relaxed
about time... huh?

Purple girl, right of train station's entrance:

A piece of the Master
Emerald?

Sorry, don't know.

But you should take a
careful look around...

This town's full of stuff.

Who knows... You might find
what you're looking for.

Owner of Cyber-Net Inc.:

I haven't seen you
around before.

Are you a friend of
Sonic and Amy?

Newsstand Saleswoman:

Let's see if there's any
news about last night.

The paper says...

A mysterious meteor shower
was sighted.

A shower of shiny, green
meteors shooting to the north.

It was so bright, you'd
think you could reach out

and touch it.

How romantic!

Businesswoman strolling around perimeter:

My husband's an adventurer.

Whenever he leaves home,

you'll never know when
he'll be back.

He's probably at the
Mystic Ruins

looking for ancient relics.

Businessman, along coastline, near hotel entrance:

Did you see the shooting
stars last night?

They were brilliant!

I wonder if any fell nearby?

Should I look for one?

Hotel
Hotel Manager:

Take the elevator on the left
and you'll find your Chao.

They're so cute.

Twin females, blue swimsuits

Left:
I'm glad the fox flying
that plane is okay.

But flying a biplane like
that these days...

It's kinda old, isn't it?

Right:
I was shocked when that
plane crashed nearby.

I mean, it was a
vintage biplane.

City Hall Area

Statue Girl strolling around perimeter (She will always appear in City Hall and her script will stay the same, however, the script is different for each player character. To prevent redundancy she won't be listed again for the rest of this article.) :

Did it fool ya?

It's just the statue in
front of the Burger Shop.

I hear he's a major player
in the burger business.

Old businessman walking around perimeter:

Sonic and the monster
fought by that barricade.

I guess nobody's allowed
to go in there.

You can't go in. No.
No! I said "NO!"

Businessman walking around perimeter:

Did you see that meteor
shower last night?

I swear I thought they were
gonna fall on my house.

That green light looks
so cool!

Owner of antique shop:

It's so noisy these days,
I can't even enjoy

a quiet walk.

Mr. Know-It-All, at the center grassy park, close to the barricade:

I'm Mr. Know-It-All.
Let me give you some advice.

Press the jump button in
mid-jump to glide!

Also, land on a wall
to climb.

But some walls are too
hard to grab on to.

Bet you didn't know that!

Shy businesswoman, standing at the center of the area:

Go for it, girl.

I wished on a shooting
star last night.

I really want to meet
that guy from the Burger Shop.

Male Burger Shop worker:

Hi! Our smiles never stop
at the Burger Shop!

Sorry, no cute girls here
today.

I can slap a smile on my
face, but

it's fake without any
pretty girls.

Should I hire somebody?

[after completing Stage 1, Speed Highway]
Station Square, Night
City Hall

[train station is still locked]

Businessman walking around perimeter:

The sun has set and
our work's done.

It's time to hit
the casino... Let's go!

Owner of antique shop:

May I help you?

A green stone? Sorry, we
don't have any of those.

Shy businesswoman, standing beside Burger Shop:

All right! A new record!

I am so close this time.

I am so in love!

Male Burger Shop worker:

You know what?

I've felt like somebody's been
watching me since yesterday.

I feel like somebody's casing
the joint to pull something.

I can't let my guard down,
not even for a second.

Station Area

Businessman, along coastline, near hotel entrance:

When you've got a broken
heart,

sometimes it's good to be in
the town that never sleeps.

Twin Pinkies standing beside Twinkle Park elevator.

Left:
Twinkle Park's fun, but
Casinopolis is better.

I just can't decide
where to go.

Right:
Chao are so cute.
Did you cuddle one?

You can visit them via the
hotel lobby.

Don't make a face like
that... just go.

Owner of Cyber-Net Inc.:

I've heard the renovated
casino looks amazing.

Somebody said they have
pirate ship battles

and roaring lions!

Wow!
I want to check it out, too.

Mature girl strolling around perimeter:

I'm pretty mature for my age,
so I can stay out late.

Whoa! You glow red...
even in the dark.

You kinda stand out,
don't you?

Hipster strolling around perimeter:

Hey! Did you check out
the casino yet?

Gems, money and
lots of laughs...

An unbelievably good time...

or so I've been told!

Purple girl, right of train station's entrance:

I'm waiting for my dad.

I hope he gets back soon,
I wonder...

Is he staying at the
office again?

Old businessman standing next to Purple Girl:

I told her, "It's late.
Go home."

But she wouldn't listen.

I just hope she doesn't
make her parents worried.

Hotel
Hotel Manager:

The door on the left opens
out onto the casino street.

Have fun.

Pool Area

[no one there]

Casino Area

Son, standing beside the station's back stairway:

My mom went into the casino
and hasn't come out yet.

What's the deal with the
casino anyway? Is it fun?

Hat Woman, on the lot, looking at the casino:

Fab neon! Funky music!

So, this is the casino
I've heard everybody

talking about.

Hmm, wonder what that switch
over that sign does?

Don't you wanna press it?

[after completing Stage 2, Casinopolis]
The Past, Day

Tribesman, on the second floor, west of the shrine:

There is an altar in
front of the gate.

The 7 Emeralds are there.

With those 7 Emeralds...

all our dreams will come true.

A tribesman also on a second floor, west of the shrine, facing the wall:

Scared power?
No way.

I don't believe it.
  We're going in to get

those stones!

Then we can rule the
world!

Tribesman, on the second floor, east of the shrine:

Our Chief is Pachacamac.
He's a fearless ruler!

Brave. Bold. With him,
we can not lose.

We owe everything
to Pachacamac.

Tribesman, on the first floor, north of the shrine:

Our tribe has lived
with war for a long time.

Wars have made us rich.

But the Chief's daughter
doesn't agree with us.

What can we do?

Various tribesmen circling around the shrine. Upon entry there's 40 of them, every two assigned for each script. If the game is reset or has been 'quit', then upon return the tribesmen will be reduced to 20, one for each script:

A good offense is the
best defense!

Full steam ahead!

Grrrr!

Hey! Look out!
Get out of the way!

Hit 'em when they least
expect it! That's my motto.

Is this life a dream?
Or is it reality?

I like fighting!
Actually, I love fighting!

I think, therefore I am.

I've never been scared of
anything my whole life!

Is there anyone or
anything capable

of making me feel scared?

Just watch...
I'll get them all!

Life is always changing,
and is never permanent.

But our prosperity will
never end.

Miracles come from within!

Move! MOVE IT!
Everyone, stand back!

Never gloat in victory.

We must proceed discreetly.

But we always do
just the opposite!

We're too hyper!

Well, well, well!

Well... I...
I just can't sit still!

You have no idea what
fighting is all about.

You just attack!

Yo-ho! Yo-ho!

[back to the present]
Station Square, Night
Casino Area

[trains still don't work]

Knuckles:
[when attempting to speak with either Sonic or Tails who are sitting on the lot, they were gassed by Eggman]

Mmmm???

I wonder what those guys
are doing...

Hat Woman, on the lot, looking at the casino:

So that's the Station
Square casino!

You can also see some strange
guy riding a weird vehicle.

Son, standing beside the station's back stairway:

Sonic and Tails are taking
a snooze.

Those guys are good friends,
aren't they?

Hotel
[entering the hotel triggers a cutscene about Knuckles spotting Eggman]

Hotel Manager:

Yes? Oh, the elevator
that big, round guy took?

It goes up to the
observation deck.

You know, where you can
see the stars.

Pool Area

[no one there]

Station Area

[in the Station Area only, everyone's script is the same as previously except the ones noted below, also the Hipster has vanished at this time]

Purple girl, right of train station's entrance:

Sonic is blue.

Tails is orange.
Amy is pink.

And you're red.
The color of passion.

Cool!

Owner of Cyber-Net Inc.:

I saw a strange man enter
the hotel.

He had something shiny
in his arms.

Maybe it was an Emerald!

City Hall

Businessman walking around perimeter:

If I stay out partying
too late,

my work always suffers
the next day.

I knew this would happen,

but I just can't seem to
stop myself.

Shy businesswoman, standing beside Burger Shop:

[same as previous]

Male Burger Shop worker:

I feel like somebody's
staring at me.

And it's not going away.
What is it?

Owner of antique shop:

I was blown away when Sonic
came in the back door.

Ah, that's not good, so
I've shut it!

[after defeating Chaos 2, and coming back from The Past, again]
Mystic Ruins, Day
Main Area

Man with binoculars, in front of station:

We're the exploration
party searching for the ruins.

I'm new here,

so they don't let me
do any of the fun stuff.

Backpacker in West Cave:

I haven't seen any green
stones.

But I'm still
searching this area...

so I might find something.

Mustache, glasses, by hut:

We heard that the ruins of
an ancient civilization are here.

We came to look into it.

Man with binoculars, next to the Windy Cave:

Oh no!

If I'd bought a shovel,
I could be digging for clues.

But I forgot to bring one.

Backpacker, near East Cave:

I found this weird object
in the cave.

What is it?
Should I tell somebody?

Station Square, Day
Station, Upper Deck
Station worker:

I wanna go to the casino, too.
But we have to work late...

Oh! A customer, excuse me.

This train's headed for
the Mystic Ruins.

Casino Area

Old businessman walking around perimeter:

I heard some crazy stuff
went down here last night.

I'm telling ya...

Life's too short to worry
about things like that.

Mother and Son standing beside the station’s back stairway

Mother:
What?

Something happened last night
and you didn't tell me?

I was just over at the casino.

Son:
...

Mom! I'm so ashamed.

Hotel
Hotel Manager:

Looks like some customers
were making trouble

at the observation deck
last night.

That's so irritating.

I mean, the atmosphere is
the best part of this place.

Pool Area

Twin females, blue swimsuits

Left:
Oh, didn't I tell you?
We are twins.

You wouldn't know it from
our personalities, though.

Right:
Twinkle Park is a blast!

Tonight, I'm gonna make some
serious money in the casino.

Hat woman, at the farthest corner away from the pool/hotel entrance:

Oh! What a nice pool!

But I didn't bring a
swimsuit. Aww!

Station Area

Businessman, along coastline, near hotel entrance:

Did you find what you're
looking for?

I found myself!
By inquiring within.

Big the Cat, next to said businessman:

Froggy? Where are you?

Spiffy, in front of the train station:

Soon as we finish this work,
I wanna go mountain climbing.

The view from the top is so
peaceful and beautiful!

Purple girl, right of train station's entrance:

[same as previous]

Owner of Cyber-Net Inc.:

Doesn't matter if the
casino triples in size or

even if they build an entire
amusement park here...

The city's main attraction
will always be my building.

Ha ha ha ha!

Newsstand Saleswoman:

Today's another day.
Today's paper says...

A toxic gas leak at the
casino?!?

They say Dr. Robotnik's
the one who did it, and

then took off.

Why would he do such a
terrible thing?

Businesswoman strolling around perimeter:

My husband's an adventurer.

He's probably at the
Mystic Ruins now.

Did you happen to meet him?

City Hall Area

Old businessman walking around perimeter:

My friends think that
working at City Hall is easy.

But actually,
there's a lot to do.

Businessman walking around perimeter:

Oh no. I'm exhausted from
pulling that all-nighter.

I suppose I deserve it...
after all, it's my own fault.

Mr. Know-It-All, standing at the center grassy area:

I'm Mr. Know-It-All.
Let me give some advice.

Press the action button a
few times for a strong punch.

Press two buttons
simultaneously to dig.

You can't dig through
some places, though.

How 'bout that, huh?

Shy businesswoman, inside the Burger Shop, standing towards the right side:

Finally, I'm inside the shop!

Pretty bold, huh?

Male Burger Shop worker:

Brrrr!

It's not just the look,
she sends shivers up my back.

Owner of antique shop:

It's okay. I like this shop.

Long as I can stay awake,
the shop will stay open.

[after completing Stage 3, Red Mountain]
Mystic Ruins, Day
Main Area

Man with binoculars, in front of station:

We're the exploration
party searching for the ruins.

Hey, I saw Sonic!

I think he was headed for
the waterfall...

Backpacker in West Cave:

That mountain that
appeared out of nowhere...

Its soil's a lot like the
soil from the Mystic Ruins...

Backpacker, near East Cave:

When I went back into
the cave,

I noticed somebody had
been digging in there.

I wonder why?

[before defeating Sonic]
Station Square, Day

[everyone's script in Station Square is the same as previous except the ones noted below]

Station Area

Spiffy, in front of the station:

Soon as we finish this work,
I wanna go mountain climbing.

What? You just went?
Oh, I'm so jealous.

Pool Area

Hat woman, at the farthest corner away from the pool/hotel entrance:

Think I should buy
a bathing suit?

I don't know if I've got
the guts to wear it.

This style is not really me.

Oh, I can't even imagine it!

[after defeating Chaos 4]
Mystic Ruins, Day
Main Area

Sonic and Tails are standing by Tails' workshop

Sonic:
Hey Knuckles! What ever happened
to your "unfinished business"!?

Tails:
We'd better go after the Egg Carrier!

Man with binoculars, in front of station:

We're the exploration
party searching for the ruins.

I heard all the trains
have stopped

because of the strike.

But it doesn't bother us,
because we're staying here.

[in truth the trains work, though]

Backpacker in West Cave:

After studying it,

I found it's similar
to the stratum.

But actually, its part
of the border.

There's a difference.

It's pretty interesting.

Mustache, glasses, by hut:

We haven't heard from
the first party,

so we're gonna send out
another one.

I've got the trolley fixed.
It should work now.

I guess we're ready to
head into the jungle.

Man with binoculars, next to the Windy Cave:

I think they're putting a
second party together.

I hope this time
they pick me,

so I can finally go into
the jungle.

Backpacker, near East Cave:

I wanna go in the jungle, too!

Jungle

Backpacker, eastern edge:

Hey!

I found a gigantic
footprint!

I bet there's a big,
mysterious animal

in these parts!

Man with binoculars, approximately southeastern of level map:

I've been in the jungle
for months...

I left my wife back in
Station Square.

I miss her terribly.

Mustache, glasses, about northeastern of level map:

I've been an explorer for
25 years!

You don't happen to have
a shovel, do you?

I saw this curious area...

[after completing Stage 4, Lost World]
The Past, Day

Tribesman, on the second floor, west of the shrine:

We don't care about the Chao.

We need to get past that
mysterious barrier

to get the Emeralds.

A tribesman also on a second floor, west of the shrine, facing the wall:

Our Chief is Pachacamac.
He's very powerful!

He's going to take the
Emeralds from the altar.

Tribesman, on the second floor, east of the shrine:

Our Chief is Pachacamac.
He's awesome!

He controls everything
around here,

except the altar...

The Chao live there
and have built

a little world of their own.

Tribesman, on the first floor, north of the shrine:

Our tribe has lived
with war for a long time.

We'll never surrender!
We'll fight 'til the end!

Various tribesmen circling around the shrine, 20 in all, one assigned for each script:

[Same "Various Tribesmen" script as before]

[back to the present]
Mystic Ruins, Day
Main Area

Man with binoculars, in front of station:

We're the exploration
party searching for the ruins.

The strike's still
going on.

But it doesn't bother us,
because we're staying here.

Backpacker standing outside of the West Cave:

I was shocked!

This weird robot came out
of nowhere!

Mustache, glasses, by hut:

Was that a robot?

It went through the tunnel
and into the jungle.

Jungle, Day

Backpacker, eastern edge:

Hey!

I found an enormous
footprint!

Think I should name this

big, mysterious creature
"Sasquatch"?

Backpacker, southern edge:

I've lost my way in a
jungle that never ends.

But at least it is a
moving experience.

Man with binoculars, approximately southeastern of level map:

I've been in the jungle
for months...

I left my wife back in
Station Square.

I want to see her so bad,

I can't focus on
our expedition!

Mustache, glasses, about northeastern of level map:

I've been an explorer for
25 years

and now I'm seeing things.

I swear I just saw a red robot

running through the jungle.

Man with binoculars, south of map, on the path east from the pyramid:

A red robot?

Nope, haven't seen one.
Sorry I couldn't help you out.

Big the Cat, by the creek east of the pyramid, on the same path of said man with binoculars:

Froggy, where are you?

[100% Clear, after completing Stage 5, Sky Deck, visiting the night version of The Past, and defeating Chaos 6]
Station Square, Day
Station Area

Purple girl, right of train station's entrance:

[same as previous]

Businessman, along coastline, near hotel entrance:

[same as previous]

Owner of Cyber-Net Inc.:

Check out my building.
Isn't it great?

But it's really hard to
clean this place.

Businesswoman strolling around perimeter:

You can still see Robotnik's
crashed ship

in the ocean from here.

Yup... hasn't sunk yet.

It's just floating
around out there.

Newsstand Saleswoman:

Waking up, reading the paper,
going to bed...

When you think about it,
normal life is underrated,

don't you think?

City Hall Area

Old businessman walking around perimeter:

[same as previous]

Businessman walking around perimeter:

Oh no!
My eyes are killing me,

I shouldn't stay up so late.

Mr. Know-It-All, standing at the center grassy area:

[same as previous]

Owner of antique shop:

It's a quiet shop, with
few customers.

That's cool. I like it
this way.

Time keeps moving, and
everything changes...

Running the antique shop
is my way of handling it,

I guess.

Shy businesswoman, inside the Burger Shop, standing towards the right side:

Oh, uh, well, uh...

Ohhh! Why can't I speak?

Male Burger Shop worker:

What?

You don't see a lot of
customers that are

too nervous to buy a burger.

Station, Upper Deck
Station worker:

No problems and always on time.

That's the way I like it.

Casino Area

Old businessman walking around perimeter:

It's been so hectic
around here,

I can't even take a quiet
walk anymore.

Mother and Son standing beside the station's back stairway

Mother:
Okay, that's it!

I swear I'm never going
in that casino again...

How many times have I
said that before... ?

Son:
My mom's been sad since
yesterday.

I'm pretty blue, too.

Hotel
Hotel Manager:

Hi! How's your Chao doing?
Growing up?

They're so cute.

Pool Area

[no one there]

Mystic Ruins, Day
Main Area

Man with binoculars, in front of station:

We're the exploration
party searching for the ruins.

That ship floating in the
ocean over there...

It looks a lot like the
ship we saw flying around

earlier.

Backpacker standing outside of the West Cave:

Hey, I got a letter from
my folks.

Great!

They want me to stop acting
so childish and come home.

Parents just don't get it.
I'm gonna do what I want.

Mustache, glasses, by hut:

Something's waiting for
us, deep in the jungle.
