The game is based around a mission system akin to that of Super Mario 64, with each level containing time attack, score attack, and scavenger hunting missions that award emeralds, which in turn allow the player to progress through barricades in the overworld. The hack has been praised for innovative moves and layouts and fresh art, but criticized for its difficulty. Note that contrary to the screenshot on this page of the latest release, the hack is no longer available on HackTube.
