Summary
Gerald Robotnik's death sentence for mankind has taken effect, and Space Colony ARK is on a collision course with Earth. Shadow slips away from his fight with Sonic, so Sonic rejoins his friends, who are clustered with Dr. Eggman in ARK's control room. They realize that since the Chaos Emeralds are responsible for ARK's shift in trajectory, they can use the Master Emerald to bring them back under control. Sonic, Tails, Rouge, and Knuckles head towards the Chaos Emeralds with Decoe and Bocoe bringing up the rear.
Chris, Amy, and Tanaka watch Earth from another window as Shadow re-enters the colony and proclaims the situation hopeless. Chris, however, argues that because Shadow saved him earlier, he must not actually be intended as a tool for revenge. Chris advocates for humanity, causing Shadow to remember that Maria actually asked him to give everyone "a chance to attain happiness."
With his perspective thus changed, Shadow arrives at the core of the colony just as Sonic and his friends encounter the Biolizard there. He distracts the beast as Knuckles tries to bring the Chaos Emeralds under control. At first he appears successful, but the Biolizard uses Chaos Control to fuse with the colony and keep it on a collision course. Sonic and Shadow transform into Super Sonic and Super Shadow together to defeat the Biolizard.
Shadow removes his limiters to perform Chaos Control one last time with Sonic and put the colony back in position. Sonic returns to ARK, but a limiter is all that remains of Shadow. He gives it to Chris, and they all return to Earth.
