Game: Sonic the Hedgehog Spinball |
Level: Toxic Caves |
Fought by: Sonic |
Scorpius is the first boss of Sonic Spinball for the Sega Mega Drive, found in Toxic Caves. A giant mechanical scorpion with Robotnik's face (and apparently his distaste for movement, too), Scorpius generally just sits at the top of the level, periodically spitting drops of toxic green acid out of his stinger to push Sonic back down. His tail is immune to attacks and the body is the only vulnerable spot.

Strategy
Scorpius will turn his tail back and forth, dropping acid that will repel Sonic back down to the entrance to his lair. After accessing this area, Sonic must jump into the space between Scorpius' tail and his body, which will cause him to rebound multiple times. After taking enough damage, Scorpius' tail will fall off, leaving Scorpius defenseless. Note that if Sonic manages to hit all the targets above Scorpius, he will do heavy damage to him by initiating a rockslide.
Hitting the targets below Scorpius will open the safety lids, saving Sonic from falling out of the arena if he falls into the outlanes. A sewer warp beneath Scorpius will warp Sonic directly above him if the player shoots into it, though he must be careful not to touch it when attacking Scorpius, as it will warp him back down.
