A Ring Gate is a barrier that won't unlock until the user has enough rings to pass through. They have appeared in a few games, albeit in different forms:
- In Sonic R, they are giant mechanical doors that block alternate routes which can lead to Chaos Emeralds and possible shortcuts.
- In Sonic 4, they are rainbow barriers which block the user from getting towards the Chaos Emerald deeper in the maze.
