Red Volcano Zone is the third Zone of Sonic Blast. As with other Zones in this game, Red Volcano consists of two standard Acts followed by a shorter third Act which contains the Zone's boss.

Overview

Following on from the hot sands of Yellow Desert Zone, Red Volcano is an even hotter place set in an active volcano similar to Lava Reef Zone in Sonic & Knuckles, with many crags and volcanoes visible from the top of the first Act. Following common trends of levels set in a volcano are streams of lava that flow from the walls and cover the rocky paths, making traversal tricky. The enemies encountered here are also similar to those found in Hill Top Zone in Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

It also has many cool gadgets for the player to use, including Spin Dash-powered elevators similar to Lava Reef Zone and Volcano Valley Zone that can be used to scale large walls, platforms powered by air pumps that can be jumped on to safely cross large pools of lava, and spring-loaded platforms that launch the player into the sky. There are also natural hazards, such as hot steam spraying out from cracks in the ground and ceiling, and platforms that pop in and out of lava falls.
