It is set inside the hallways of Prison Island, and the guards are G.U.N. Hunters and Beetles. There are many prison cells to explore. Tails and Amy Rose go through Prison Lane so Amy can sneak through a shaft and rescue Sonic the Hedgehog, who is being held prisoner after being framed by his dark rival.

Big the Cat
Reach the tunnel right before the long elevator ride. Big can be seen in the second to last prison cell on the left.
Other Versions
Prison Lane shares some of it’s settings and level objects with Eggman's Iron Gate, and to a lesser degree, Tails' Prison Lane. It shouldn't be surprising in it's consistency, since the three are stages are located inside GUN's military base. It should also be boted that the defenses are lesser and that Iron Gate takes takes place underground.
