Edit mode

On the Level Select screen, play songs 01, 09, 09, 04, 01, 00, 01, 08. You will hear a ring chime. Select a level, and press + to start the level with edit mode.

Have all Chaos Emeralds

On the Level Select screen, play songs 01, 06, 07, 07, 07, 02, 01, 06. You will hear an emerald chime.
