JJFTails has been a member at SWS2B (and previously SSRG) ever since August 2005.

Noobish Days

Probably one of the first things he is some-what known for is his Segacon program, made in late 2004 - early 2005. This program allowed you to use Mask of Destiny's Sega CD Transfer Suite cord for things other than it was intended for. For example, you could control the Sega Genesis just as you would with a controller, only with your PC with Segacon. With Segacon, you could even record macros or "recordings of buttons pressed within a period of time", store them as a file on your hard drive, and play them back. This accomplishment was recognized by a small number of members on SWS2B. After a little while, he began to develop programs for the PSP and move into the PSP Dev Scene.

Returning to the Scene

When the screen on his PSP had randomly been broken, he started lurking, and eventually started posting at SWS2B again. He had more to bring though, such as a port of Segacon to C++, and other things. He became interested in learning how to program the Sega Genesis, and learned within a couple days how to program in assembly for the 68k processor used in the Sega Genesis thanks to drx's helpful guides. Eventually, he came up with a full-fledged maze-like game, posted it at SWS2B, and more people began to recognize him. Then, when he posted a new version of the game with music, more levels, and etc., Mustapha and others suggested him for Tech Member. Shortly after he was made a Tech Member.

Becoming a recognizable member

He really liked the idea of making games and wanted to test them out on the real hardware, so he bought a Tototek and was simply amazed. He became obsessed with his Tototek, and others noticed. It became as recognizable as .hack//zero's obsession with Girls and lostgame's obsession with Macs. He also became very recognized and made a lot of friends after these events. Late July 2006, he surprised the communtiy with yet another accomplishment. He had created the first Knuckles Chaotix art editing program. This allows you to edit all character arts, and with bitmap importing features, you could port a whole new character! You can download the editor at the utils section of Hacking-Cult.

Sonic in Chaotix

In late October 2006, JJFTails surprised the community: He had ported Sonic the Hedgehog to Knuckles' Chaotix, a game for the Sega 32x that was barely ever hacked. This hack was made to look identical to the Sonic Chaotix hoax by KojiChao. Some may think to do this would be as simple as opening the ROM with TLP and Replacing some tiles. However, the art used a complex compression format, which really only drx and JJFTails knew. Since JJFTails had been pretty much finished with his C++ port of his Chaotix Art Editor, which applied these compression formats to edit the game's art and palettes, he attempted to port Sonic over Mighty. Because of the neat feature in Chaoxed that matched and imported colors from a bitmap to the pallete, it took rather quick for JJFTails to complete what he was attempting. By using sprites from Crackers, and various sprites from KojiChao, he was able to successfully port Sonic to Chaotix. JJFTails plans to release a second version with bugfixes and better sprites in November 06. Grab the hack at Hacking Cult.
