Death Egg Zone is the 11th and final zone in Sonic 2, taking place on the Death Egg. This level shares layout tiles and a palette with Chemical Plant Zone.
This zone's appearance is nearly identical to Chemical Plant Zone except for the background, which features multi-colored stars, and the tube-looking object where Dr. Robotnik stands before Sonic chases him to the boss mech.
After defeating the boss, the Death Egg explodes for some reason, forcing Sonic to take a leap of faith out of the air lock. Fortunately, Tails is able to catch him with the tornado.
