Fifth Babylon track, Sonic Riders
Level themes: desert/western, ancient ruins
Played as: Jet
Opponent: Team Sonic

Dark Desert is the fifth Babylon story racecourse in Sonic Riders. Sand Ruins from Jet's point of view, the race takes place in the middle of a total solar eclipse. Sand-quakes in the desert expose entrances to ancient Babylonian ruins beneath the dunes - crammed full with still-functional ancient technology, including gravity fields and teleport beams. The latter deposits racers in the small town just outside the amphitheater, where the finish line of the EX World Grand Prix lies.

Story

Storm finally returns from his fact-finding mission to Ice Factory as Jet and Wave idle outside Sand Ruins' colosseum. He brings with him a smuggled entry from Robotnik's diary, revealing the fat scientist's intention to steal the technology of Babylon Garden for himself. Apparently unconcerned about the impending desecration of his ancestors' secrets, Jet has to be convinced by Wave that if they get to the tech first, they can sell if for a tidy profit.

As the only Babylon Rogue left in the Grand Prix, Jet faces off against all three of Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles in this race. Although it evidently recounts the same contest as seen in the Hero story Sand Ruins, this playthrough has both an eclipse and a legitimate victory by Jet, neither of which were seen in race from Sonic's perspective.
