Crystal Egg Zone, the seventh zone in the Game Gear and Master System version of Sonic the Hedgehog 2, has weird bright colors that mask the hardest stage in the game. The boss is a different story altogether, as his stage is almost entirely black. Spikes are plentiful here as expected, and it is a very suitable last level. You can only get here with all emeralds, or else the game ends after beating Mecha Sonic.
Instruction Manual Description
