In the 1207 prototype Special Stages were empty levels that looped forever and had no rules. Here in the 1227 prototype, there are some objects and you require rings to keep going. No sound effects play during these segments. If the last special stage (6) is selected in the stage select, the game will load the first (0).

Objects only exist in the first half of the first stage (0). The game doesn't ask for any blue spheres, but provides some anyway, meaning as long as you stay on the path, passing the first section is guaranteed.

There are, however, no objects or rings in the second half. Which means, as there are not enough rings in the first half to keep you going, you will time out before the end.

The second stage demand blue spheres but doesn't provide any, so after your initial count of 50 rings ends, you lose. Other stages have no blue sphere requirements, but you still can't beat them.

While most parts of each stage share the same colour scheme as 1207, new colours have been added to some sections.
