Sonic on the Casinopolis pinball table

Casinopolis is the Casino stage in Sonic Adventure, modelled heavily after Casino Night Zone, with a similiar colour scheme but some important differences - it is a real Casino rather than a Casino themed "Zone". It contains typical casino gimmicks such as a solid gold Sonic statue and a life-size pirate ship mockup. The main casino area is circular with a dome shape in structure.

The zone is located in Station Square, in the area accessible from the hotel and station. Opening the entry door is achieved by pressing the large button above the door. Sonic achieves this by pressing a button to activate a line of rings to the button and performing a Light Speed Dash through them, Tails flies up to it, and Knuckles climbs up a nearby wall and glides into it. The fact that the stage opening is caused by a trigger object, however, has meant that some people have discovered ways to open the level with other characters.

Sonic's Level

The aim of Sonic's level is to reach a platform in the Ring vault. This platform is high enough that you cannot reach it by normal means - by stepping on a button in the vault, a mechanical grabber will shake out all your collected Rings to collect on the vault floor, rising high enough to jump from them to the platform. 400 Rings are needed to reach the platform, though 500 Rings will make it easier to reach it.

Collecting Rings is done in a number of ways:

  • The Sonic pinball table gives you a Ring whenever you hit targets, and a set of Rings for completing target combinations. There is a sub-area where it is possible to control Sonic over a rotating bridge and into some Ring monitors, though this is difficult and wastes a lot of time. There is also a slot machine target which activates slots that are stopped one-by-one by pressing the jump button. Getting a line of a certain character/item horizontally or diagonally gains (or loses, in the case of Eggman) Rings, disables the slot machine for a set period, and typically activates a block to avoid losing a ball for the same amount of time.
  • The NiGHTS pinball table satisfies the NiGHTS cameo cliché in recent Sonic games. On the table are cards in the design of NiGHTS characters which you can collect by hitting them. Once collected, the card is shortly replaced by a different one. After collecting five cards, the game distributes Rings if you have 2, 3, 4 or 5 of the same card. A 'higher' area of the table, called the Nightmare table is available which is a mostly-open table with lots of cards. However, it is very easy to waste time on the table, with two long NiGHTS flying sequences on the Nightmare table.
  • If you lose all three balls on either pinball table while you have less than 100 Rings, you are deposited in a new area called Delapidated Way, a sewer filled with spinner enemies and spiked balls. This is actually the quickest way to collect Rings, as it is possible to pass through around 35 10-Ring Monitors (hence, around 350 Rings) on a single run through the area. However, it is also easy to lose all your Rings due to the aforementioned traps.
  • Striking the coin gambling machines on the outer edge of the main casino makes them throw out a small number of Rings in a circle. These Rings act like they do when you lose Rings by being hit, in that they disappear after a short time. Also, after three hits, no more Rings come out.
  • Each shower in the shower area (where you re-enter the casino from Delapidated Way) contains one Ring.

Tails' Level

Tails' level is, as usual, a race against Sonic through Delapidated Way. The multiple routes through the level cause the progress icons at the bottom of the screen to often jump back and forth, making it hard to know who is ahead.

Knuckles' Level

Again, Knuckles' aim is to collect three Master Emerald fragments in an extended casino area. All the areas in Sonic's casino area are available, and springs dotted around the area launch Knuckles into the upper level, which contains a moving lion sculpture, a pirate ship montage, and access to an inner-workings area above the entrance to the vault. Spinners are common in Knuckles' level, with a swarm of them in the entrance to the vault and one in each shower. The Sonic statue in the centre of the level can be smashed by punching a red-glowing crack in its foot - this sometimes reveals an Emerald fragment hidden in the statue.

E-102 in Casinopolis

Map for Casinopolis:

_ and | = Wall J = Jump J+^ = jump and move onto the train Where to fly = Arrows <, ^, >

_____________________________________ ___J___|_<____<__________|___________

J+^

  • Difficulty: Easy getting in, Hard in the Pinball Machines
  • Requirements: The Hover Power-up, Extra rocket launcher is optional.
  • Character: E-102
  • Where Preformed: Station Square

Special Notice/Warning for This Glitch: If you shut your Dreamcast off during a save or while in an action stage, the save file will be deleted. To prevent this, try not to do anything that would reuqire you to reset during the action stages.

Go into the train station as E-102. Go to the middle train, don't go in yet. Jump and hover on the middle of the middle train, and keep on walking on the top until you go into wheel mode. Move over to the left train, jump and hover towards the tunnel. If you did this right, you should be standing on the roof. Now, hover to the Casinopolis door button and hit it. The doors won't open! To get into Casinopolis, read below:

Move over to the RIGHT train instead of the left and jump, make your way to Casinopolis. The weird thing is on my game it says, "Collect 50 rings and destroy E-103" as an objective! Once inside, you can explore all you want. Once you get into the pinball teleport, you're stuck. Just wait a little while and when E-102 is supposed to say "Combat Systems Activated" he will be sucked in. When you get in, you can fly anywhere. Just don't go into any tunnel, or you'll get stuck. If you get dumped into the Dilapidated Way, you can shoot the blade spinning baddies for time. Get 400 rings, and then go to the vault. Deposit them, and when you hit the capsule, you hear "Mission Complete". Does he EVER say this in the game? Anyway, when you win, the Dreamcast will mysteriously reset itself...

Amy in Casinopolis

  • Difficulty: Easy (English Version is Hard)
  • Requirements: Green Hammer (recommended)
  • Character: Amy
  • Where Preformed: Station Square

Special Notice/Warning for This Glitch: If you shut your Dreamcast off during a save or while in an action stage, the save file will be deleted. To prevent this, try not to do anything that would reuqire you to reset during the action stages.

NOTE: I had this in the guide since I started it, but it was removed before the first public release. I decided to re-enter it, thanks to my friend Luigi Link. Thanks a bunch, Luigi Link!!!

NOTE 2: This glitch CAN ONLY BE PREFORMED IN THE JAPANESE VERSION!

In front of the burger shop, you will find a statue that looks like a man. Take it to the Casinopolis area. Place it in front of the button. Get at full speed and jump on it. Then quickly, do your Catapult Jump and if you did it right you will hit the button. Enter.

Alternative method: Ok, First off you need the Green Hammer. it makes it easier. [Win it by beating your hedgehog hammer hi-score] Now, Go To The train depot. Jump on the train and hold Forward, Untill You can do your hammer jump. Work over to the LEFT train segment. Now jump. Occasionally You'll Be pushed through the ceiling. Even more occasionally you'll land on the roof. You won't be able to see anything. Jump FORWARD A few Times, And Amy mig ht come into view. Walk SLOWLY Outside the station, while staying on the glass roof of the track. Eventually you will be able to walk around freely on the track. Now work yourself into a run, And when you reach the end of the track, hammer jump off toward the casino. Now the tricky part, You have to land on just behind the door. Its tough and took me many many tries, but boy is it worth it. Once in you're free to do whatever you please. If you finish the level, The game freezes.

Sonic in Knuckles' Casinopolis

  • Difficulty: Medium
  • Requirements: NONE
  • Character: Sonic
  • Where Preformed: Casinopolis

Method 1: First, you need to get 100 rings in the pinball machine. When falling out of the pinball machine, you SHOULD get high enough to reach Knuckles' area to the side (Don't ask me which, it changes from time to time). That is how I got Sonic to, unfortunately, go through the floor of Knuckles' area. But I'm not giving up.

Method 2: Stand on TOP of the Sonic Pinball game behind the "777 SLOT PINBALL" sign (will NOT work on the NiGHTs one). Next, charge up the light speed dash but release before he says "Ready...". Jump RIGHT at the part where the ramp turns completely upwards so you dont lose your speed. You are going to hit the ceiling but the result is a glitchy camera showing a part of Knuckles' area and Tails might make his way up there.
