Probably the most infamous glitch in the game, if you turn on Debug Mode and press the button(Depending on the system)that makes debug mode appear at the exact second before the first cutscene in Mania Mode, you are able to use debug during the cutscene! This works on v1.04 and Mania Plus. Place a Sign Post and wait until the score summary finishes(If your playing as Sonic, Tails, Mighty or Ray, make sure you don't exit out if debug until the end of the level score appears. If your Knuckles, don't exit debug at all). After that you are taken the actual level Angel Island. The stage is the same, but the background is missing (Instead it's the ocean). Some textures also go missing. The stage will correct itself once you go past the waterfall. You can use debug mode, but if you go to the bottom of the stage and die, it will result in a game over. This is because the game thinks your in Encore Mode and since Encore Mode doesn't have lives(And since you don't have another party member), you it will automatically be a game over. If you go to the area where Mighty and Ray are, the ocean is replaced with this really weird background. If you destroy the Combi Confiner in v1.04, Mighty and Ray will become Sonic(Since you don't have the Encore DLC. Their trapped animations are still there though). If you have Mania Plus, then everthing is normal. You can pick a party member, but you can't control them except when you place a charcter monitor. Once you have full control use debug to go the next cutscene. Be careful of going to the Mighty pathway though as for some reason your companion can get you a game over. Once the cutscene plays, you go to the  Green Hill Zone with the companion you picked. However it doesn't end there. If you use the button that skips the cutscene, you go to Encore Green Hill and you can continue to play the Encore levels(Note that if you do this, even though you have the Encore Palletes, the layout will be the same as Mania Mode's). Then that is it. You can beat the game with any charcter and companion with the Mania or Encore Mode pallates. This glitch was discovered by  Youtuber Sonic Mania Architect who made a video on May 6th, 2018, just a fe days after the v1.04 update leak.

Green Hill Zone

Angel Island Zone is the first Zone in the Encore Mode of Sonic Mania Plus, which is based on Angel Island Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog 3, and serves to set up the story for Encore Mode. This Zone is not playable in Mania Mode under normal circumstances, though it is visited in a cutscene at the beginning of Mania Mode.

After having defeated Dr. Eggman in another dimension in Sonic Forces, Sonic the Hedgehog is returned to this Zone, where he notices that the Phantom Ruby has also returned with him. Seeing it float away, Sonic follows it through the jungle.

Overview

Like the original Zone, Angel Island Zone is a thick, tropical jungle with palm trees, breakable rocks, swinging vines and plenty of foliage as far as the eye can see. This time around, there are now animals populating the jungle in a carefree manner, though there are the odd bunch of Badniks that Sonic must destroy.

This Zone is much shorter than it was in Sonic 3 and has only one Act, because as soon as Sonic reaches the open clearing where Fire Breath originally appeared, he will find a capsule based on the Combi Confiner containing Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Flying Squirrel. When the capsule is destroyed, the Act ends. After the results tally, the player must choose which character they would like to partner with. The character the player doesn't choose will be revealed to be the Heavy Magician in disguise, who will then swipe the Phantom Ruby and escape with it.

The player regains control of Sonic and their new partner, and must use their partner's abilities to overcome an obstacle and chase after Heavy Magician. If the player chose Mighty, they must use his Hammer Drop to break the rocks in the ground and take a lower route; if they chose Ray, they must use his Air Glide to climb a ledge that's too high for Sonic to reach and take a higher route. Both routes lead to the broken-down Hard Boiled Heavies, who Heavy Magician will pass the Phantom Ruby to, which the Heavy King catches and sends the heroes back to Green Hill Zone.
