Altar Emerald is found after beating Chaos Angel's boss by moving just a bit further and finding the Final Zone Ring (though, after completing the game, you will be automatically taken to Altar Emerald after beating Chaos Angel). Its similar to Death Egg Zone in Sonic 2 in that instead of another level, its two bosses back to back (with rings, this time).

Overview
Gemerl is the first boss the player will encounter. He'll attack by dashing side-to-side, before warping into the air and dashing across the screen, unleashing a volley of missles. He'll also move to the top-center of the screen and begin spinning, unleashing more missles that will hit the nail the ground and the player if they are not careful. Gemerl is fast and will take 6 hits as per usual (2 in easy) to defeat before you can move on.

This Zone is similar to Death Egg Zone in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 in that instead of a full-length platforming level, it's simply a straight path with two back-to-back boss fights (with Rings, this time). Said bosses are G-merl and the Hyper Eggrobo. After beating Dr. Eggman, if Sonic is the lead character and all 7 Chaos Emeralds have been collected, G-merl will go rogue and harness the power of the Emeralds, thus the true final zone will appear, Nonaggression. If not, the normal ending will play in which the heroes attack Eggman, but the scientist escapes along with G-merl, followed by the Master Emerald restoring the planet to its original state.

You'll then encounter the Master Emerald in its shrine. Dr. Eggman will rise from behind it and begin the final battle. Here, he'll use his two massive hands to attempt to squash you. As he does so, he also takes out two of the four platforms the player has to stand on (they'll reappear). At this point, the player can stand on the back of the rising hands to attack Eggman. Afterwards, Eggman will bring the hands to the side and begin creating red spheres from the blue sphere just above the emerald. This spheres can hurt the player and and will also push them back into the hands. However, they can also be stood on, allowing the player to again attack Eggman. The hands will play "Pong" in a sense, keeping the spheres bouncing back and forth. Eggman will also use the hands to punch and smash the player, signified by the hands either balling up and spinning in the background, or by going to both sides of the screen and moving up and done in an attempt to home in. Gemerl is just above Eggman.

Since the Master Emerald is found here, this area must be located on Angel Island, and presumably represents the same place as the Emerald Shrine in Sonic Adventure.

After beating Eggman, if you were using Sonic as your lead and have all 7 emeralds, you will be taken to the true final zone, Nonaggression. If not, you will be taken to the normal ending.

Altar Emerald is the eighth and regular final Zone of Sonic Advance 3, which the player immediately travels to after defeating the Egg Gravity and clearing Chaos Angel. Once this Zone has been reached, it can be accessed again via Chaos Angel's Zone Map by moving just a bit further past the Boss Capsule and finding the Final Zone Ring.

Overview

Since the Master Emerald is found here, this area must be located on Angel Island, and presumably represents the same place as the Emerald Shrine in Sonic Adventure.

Music

The music that plays in this zone is a remix of Holy Summit's theme from Sonic Battle.
