Specials

The special issues in this template are mislabled. There is:

  • Sonic the Summer Special (1994?)
  • Sonic Holiday Special (1995?)
  • Knuckles Knock-Out Special (that one's fine)
  • Sonic Holiday Special (1996)
  • Total Sonic Special (199x?)

There could be others.

There's also the two yearbooks, which are also called "Sonic the Hedgehog Special" (I don't know if there are any differences, hence why I never made pages). I guess these are sort of "proto-STC", given Richard Elson did the cover art.-Black Squirrel (talk) 16:46, 10 September 2019 (EDT)

That's all of them, and your years are correct - Sonic the Summer Special is 1994, and 1995 and 1996 each had a "Sonic Holiday Special". According to the Internet, "Total Sonic Special" was published in 1999. Unfortunately I can't any scans of the indicia/small print page to confirm it, but its latest reprint was from a mid-1998 issue of STC, and it still had the Sonic 3D corner icon, so 1999 is logical.
There was also "Eternal Champions Special", labelled as "A Sonic the Comic Mega-Production" on the cover (this is on SegaRetro). In terms of Ravette's paperback collections, there's "Streets of Rage: Bad City Fighters" (also on SegaRetro) and "Shinobi: The Fear Pavilion". It might be worth including these, with the links directing to the SegaRetro pages?
The two "The Official Sonic the Hedgehog Special" books are paperback editions of the Yearbooks. From what I can tell there's no difference in contents. I believe scans for the first "Special" were posted on the forum. They're tangential to Sonic the Comic (the Shinobi artist carried over too), but since they're from a different publisher I don't think they should fall under the "Sonic the Comic" umbrella.
I notice that the Sonic 1 promo comic is included on this template - I don't think that really fits either. It was made available in the UK, but it was produced in America, before Fleetway got the Sonic license. There was a "Free Preview Special!" of Sonic the Comic though, which came free with comics like 2000 AD and Stingray. --Pecky (talk) 19:36, 10 September 2019 (EDT)
I didn't know there was a Shinobi one - I'll get on that.
I'm not sure I'd include the non-Sonic ones in the template, but they're definitely worth mentioning on the Sonic the Comic page (especially if they're just reprints - I don't know what they are) -Black Squirrel (talk) 16:15, 12 September 2019 (EDT)
