Both Sonic/Tails' and Knuckles' versions of Sky Sanctuary Zone are considered Act 2 in this prototype, as Hidden Palace Zone is counted as Act 1.

There is no protection for Sonic and Tails from falling during the introductory section. In the final, blowing air keeps them from falling down the pits on the left and right.

Eggrobo in this prototype has a earlier design. Its head was redrawn to feature the missing eye in later prototypes and the final[1].

There is a swinging spiked cup as early as the beginning of the Zone. It was later replaced with two platforms, and the Eggrobo was moved to the right.

When the above Warp Point was realigned, this section had to be altered to compensate.

When the "Metropolis Zone" boss is defeated, the balloons don't pop until they reach the ground. In the final, all balloons pop the instant the boss is defeated.

After beating the Green Hill and Metropolis bosses, the timer freezes and Sonic loses the ability to turn into Super Sonic. Dying or entering a Bonus Stage fixes the problem.

Pausing and returning to the Level Select from Knuckles' Act messes up the Level Select background slightly.

The music cues for both Mecha Sonic fights are dodgy in this prototype - as soon as the final boss theme plays, the normal Act 2 boss theme starts up again, and The Doomsday Zone music does not play for the fight against Super Mecha Sonic.

When Super Mecha Sonic is defeated, he drops through the ground and off the screen...and nothing else happens afterwards.
