Sonic Zero: Remastered is a fan game currently in development by Mr.Kaosu, and a number of other team members and contributors. Sonic Zero: Remastered was originally just Sonic Zero, and was developed by Max Stunner in 2001. Since then, ownership is now in Kaosu's hands.

Previous Years

The first demo of Sonic Zero: Remastered was released during SAGE 14, and was given a rating and gameplay video by Lacktardo. The video was highly praised by many viewers as well as others who played the game. However, most criticism was against the sprites, and a small occasion the level layout. Since then, the game has taken a development leap with the help of LarkSS and Sparks. After SAGE 15, the game had a 3 Act demo released. Since then, progress hit a standstill for roughly a year. This has been due to revised plans taking effect.

Currently

Sonic Zero: Remastered took its criticism from SAGE 15, and has been revamped in several areas. However, SAGE 16 will be the last SAGE to release Sonic Zero in that condition. Development has been in progress for awhile which will include an all new graphical style based on Knuckles Chaotix(seen on this page) and new zones. There is no set release for this newer version.

Gameplay

The engine of Sonic Zero: Remastered is that of Sonic Worlds. The game itself is also meant to be an example of the powers of Sonic Worlds, an example of how it can be modified, and how useful the engine can be. Graphics and controls are borrowed from the Genesis era games, giving a Chaotix and modern vibe.

Character wise, you have a choice between Sonic, Tails and Knuckles. All characters retain their original abilities from Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Level layout is designed with all three players in mind, and includes vasts amount of exploration and alternate route possibilities, making the game comparable to Sonic 2 and Sonic 3K in some aspects.

Zones

Three zones are currently being developed for Sonic Zero: Remastered.

Pamltree Parkway

First zone of the game. Very much like a tropical park with a blend of the city life.

Electric Hill

A dark forest full of spiked traps, fans and power stations.

Tidal Tubes

A flooded high speed labyrinth within a futuristic garden.
