Sonic YTMND fad

"Sonic Says" YTMND

The Sonic YTMND fad (also known as "Sonic advice fad") was a short-lived YTMND fad based on a line from the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog TV show, more precisely the "Sonic Says" segment in which Sonic warns viewers about what do if someone tries to "touch you in a way or in a place that makes you uncomfortable." (I.e., attempts rape.) The line was this:

"Kids, there's nothing more cool than being hugged by someone you like. But if someone tries to touch you in a place or a in a way that makes you feel uncomfortable, that's no good! It's your body, no one has the right to touch you if you don't want them to. So what do you do? First, you say "no," then, you get outta there!"

The original YTMND that included this line was called "Sonic Says..." although the later YTMNDs were generally called "Sonic with . . . advice". It was created in August '04 and became a fad around July '05, dying off in early August that year.

Other Sonic YTMNDs

There have been many other YTMNDs about Sonic not related to the advice fad, more specifically the "drowning" sites where a picture of someone apparently drowning is put together with the drowning music from Sonic. These YTMNDs are usually linked to Hurricane Katrina and its effect.
