A "@SEGA" copyright notice in a Sonic 2 font style has been added to the bottom-right corner. "Press Start" has also been changed to "Press Button".
The main menu from the 2011 remaster has been replaced with a title screen menu much like the original Mega-CD and Windows 95 releases. The 2011 menu graphics can still be seen when selecting some of the menu options.
The Settings menu only has the Spin Dash setting in this version.
The opening and ending FMVs have been remastered and are presented in their original 4:3 aspect ratio instead of cropped 16:9.
The credits sequence during the endings has a different font, and now includes credits from the North American 1993 release and the 2011 remaster.
Audio comparisons
All voice clips for Sonic and Amy have been removed. As a consequence, the sound for destroying a Robot transporter now plays when Sonic gets an extra life.
