Sonic Athletics (ソニック アスレチックス) is an attraction at Sega's Tokyo Joypolis, which was first opened on April 25, 2013[2]. This is the first Sonic the Hedgehog attraction to open at Tokyo Joypolis, the other two being Sonic Ghost Shooting and Sonic Brain Ranking.
The game shows similarities to Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, and the cabinet uses artwork from the Nintendo 3DS version of Sonic Generations. Amy and Blaze wear outfits based on their summer outfits from the Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games series.
Gameplay
Up to 8 players race on a screen-facing treadmill, taking on the role of a particular character based on which treadmill station they use in the following order: Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Shadow, Metal Sonic, Silver and Blaze. Each of the players race through three different events, and a jump button is provided for events that require jumping. The faster a player runs on the treadmill, the faster their character runs.
The game costs ¥500 to play per player, and the minimum height requirement is 110cm[2].
Events
- 100 Meter Dash
- Long Jump
- 110 Meter Hurdles
