Sonic Classic memes

From Sonic Retro

(Redirected from SClassic Subculture)

I'm just kind of brainstorming all the inside jokes here, will flesh out later:

Contents

I wod lick a Sonic 2 ROMS/I wod lik it/et al.

Spawned from a comment posted at Sonic Classic's mailbag which read "I wod lick a Sonic 2 ROMS". Presumably asking for a Sonic 2 Beta ROM this spawned countless spinoffs, including an emoticon found on the board of an Ashura2k sprite licking a "Sonic 2 ROMs" windows icon.

Knuckles X 3

At the Sonic 2 Beta messageboard, someone made a poll in Trash Talk on who was the most compatible for Knuckles: 1. Rouge 2. Sonic and 3. (an image of the Master Emerald was supposed to be the last choice, however hotlinking to images in polls was not possible at the time). A sprite edit was made, and Knuckles and 3 were declared lovers.

YOUR MOMâ„¢ (drums)

A catchphrase used by GerbilSoft for a while. Exact origins are difficult to determine.

Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a restaurant franchise famous for bad tacos, and Grade F meat.

The Taco Bell SClassic Subculture reference, however, was started by RageTheBat and involved taking advantage of ezBoard's icon feature. The icon, shown next to a member's name in every topic, could be any size they wanted. From 10 X 10 to 1000 X 1000. Rage, being the stupid loveable bat that he was, made his icon into a GIANT Taco Bell logo, screwing up the entire Trash Talk forum every so often. Because nothing on ezBoard was retro-active, he simply changed his icon back after one post and watched the insanity ensue.

Pelord took it upon himself to remove every Taco Bell logo that sneaked onto the board.

Sea Genius

Sea Genius is the result of a typo by Aesculapius Piranha aka AP the Exploding-Man; he replied to a question about the Atlantic Sea with "it's not an ocean, it's a sea genius" while he meant "sea, genius." Hilarity ensued, and there were things like an AIM SN called Sea Genius, and much later, even a usergroup at Sonic Classic!

Hedgehog Man

"Hedgehog Man - Let's save the people! is his dairy cry. But what happens when go to the left? To the right? Do you know? You don't? Let's find out with Hedgehog Man!"

Hedgehog Man is Sonic Classic's resident superhero. Maybe not, the jury's still out on whether he's done any actual superhero-ing.

Hedgehog Man, the "greatest and handsomest superhero in the universe," first appeared on the Sonic 2 Beta boards in 2003 claiming to be the new superhero protector of the boards along with his now-defunct sidekick, Kitsune Boy, and his girlfriend, Aimee, the Pink Hedgehog Girl. For some unknown reason, most members either love or hate Hedgehog Man.

Anal togo

Anal togo is the brainchild of RageTheBat. On another forum many years ago, he attempted to create a half-assed gag from a sentence that a member kept repeating. It was something on the order of, "I have to go to the Amazon," or some other vacation destination with "a" in it. Rage threw around a few letters and created "I have anal togo."

When brought to SClassic (then Sonic 2 Beta), Rage made it the title of every stupid poll he created. That's all they were. Polls. Really stupid polls. Kind of like the pregnant stereo polls. Anything beyond that is simply the speculation of a perverted mind.

Q

At one point Sue's laptop's keyboard started going crazy and creating random "Q"'s in sentences, often as a side-effect of hitting the Enter key, making them looks kind of like q thisqq.q Later turned into a joke.

GROSS

GROSS (Get Rid Of Sonic Sue) was a plan to get rid of Sonic Sue and change a few of the rules of SClassic, headed by Grauh. The name of the movement is probably a pastiche of Get Rid Of Slimy girlS, from Calvin & Hobbes.

ILVE

A famous typo made by LocalH, when he posted on the forums that the Sonic Classic IRC Chat had become live.

Webster's Misty

Webster's Misty is an online Engrish-type dictionary that was started in an "omg FORTRESS" chat, formed around/by Misty Dewspring.

Pet the Sonic Hedgehog

A unfinished Flash movie by Alexbt to the song "Brand New World", a remix of "Sonic - You Can Do Anything" from the Japanese soundtrack of Sonic CD. This version of the song used Engrish lyrics (really English sung by a Japanese singer where the pronunciations are incorrect), which were then interpreted by Kilometers Prower to words they sounded like, with the chorus being "Pet the Sonic Hedgehog" along with a hand rubbing L0st's avatar, "petting" it.

omgFORTRESS

The omgFORTRESS is a series of private AIM chats held by certain current and former members of Sonic Classic. They are often noted for their sheer nonsense.

Evil ezBake popups

'nuff said. ezBake referring to ezBoard of course.

ezSniper

Similar to "ezBake" the ezSniper is the character always *shoot*ing everybody. Dates back to the ezBoard.

TOAST

TOAST is the name of the banned group at Sonic Classic.

The origin of the name dates back to the Sonic 2 Beta ezBoard, where a sig that broke the rules was replaced with an image of toast.

Sutter also posted a Sonic erotica (written pornography) story (which, oddly enough, was the 1337th topic on the board) that Pelord changed to a piece of toast.

Sutter was banned shortly after, and then the name of the banned group became "TOAST".
