Jurassic Boy 2, also known as simply Jurassic BoyMedia:JurassicBoy2 FC TW Box Front.jpg[1], is an unlicensed Famicom action platform game developed by Thin Chen Enterprise and published by Sachen exclusively in Taiwan in 1994. It was later ported to the Game Boy Color by Ei-How Yang.

The game puts players in control of a pink dinosaur named Chen who sets out to stop the mad scientist Dr. Crachi from kidnapping his family and obtaining the gene required to make "complete dinosaurs" in the future. The gameplay and level designs take direct inspiration from the original Sonic the Hedgehog, while the "2" in the game's title was included solely to capitalize on the popularity of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (as no "Jurassic Boy 1" was ever produced).

Story

In the year 2193, "Dinosaurs" become a popular subject again. Scientists all work to try and revive the dinosaurs.

Nevertheless, they still lack a special gene. This causes all the dinosaurs they cultivate to be incomplete.

Many countries then intend to buy dinosaurian fossils at high prices in order to get the gene. But it seems that it's not so easy.

No one can do anything to resolve this problem until Dr. Crachi invents a "Time Space" machine in the year 2197.

Gameplay

The first world bears a striking resemblance to Emerald Hill Zone.

Jurassic Boy 2 is an attempt to bring Sonic the Hedgehog-style gameplay to Nintendo's 8-bit Famicom. However, the protagonist Chen cannot perform a Spin Attack like Sonic. The game features seven different Zones.

The Game Boy Color port features altered physics, allowing Chen to jump higher and move faster while mid-air. This version appears to have been designed exclusively with the Game Boy Color in mind - while technically compatible with the earlier black-and-white Game Boy, Jurassic Boy 2 runs at a much slower speed on these systems, and will not physically fit in the cartridge slot without modification.
