Japan (日本) is a island country in East Asia made up of over 3,000 islands that is leading the electronic world. A significant percentage of video games, including those in the Sonic the Hedgehog series, are developed there. Sega and Nintendo are based in Japan, although they both have branches in America and Europe. Japan is usually the base of any major gaming company, with such exceptions as Sony, Microsoft, etc.
