James Ian FlynnMedia:Ian Flynn's first name is James.png[1] is an American-Canadian author and long time comic book writer for both the Archie and IDW Sonic the Hedgehog comics. He is also part of Sega of America's Sonic lore group, an internal division of Sonic Studio dedicated to establishing and maintaining consistent lore within the company's Sonic products.[2]

Flynn is the husband of writer and colorist Aleah Baker.

Career

"I composed three improvised scripts, a cover letter, and mailed it off to the [Archie Comics] home office in Mamaroneck. Simple as that. I also kept at it for four years, revising and improving the sample material I sent in annually. Eventually, editor Mike Pellerito was impressed enough to give me a chance. A few small behind-the-scenes projects turned into the lead writing position in about a year."

In addition to his comic book work, Flynn has also written for a number of Sonic video games, starting with the animated scenes in Sonic Origins,[4] followed by contributions to Sonic Frontiers. Outside of the Sonic sphere, Flynn has written for other game franchises such as Archie Comics' Mega Man series, and Rivals of Aether. He also collaborated with Adam Bryce Thomas on an original comic series named Drogune.
